Showing Out: Word & Shout!

Updated: Aug 10, 2019

March 22 – 23, 2019

Friday @ 11:00 AM & 7:00 PM

Our 20th Anniversary season parties on with an arts experience like no other! Be prepared: this is not your traditional “sit-down-and-be-quiet” performance.

On March 22 & 23, the Pacific Northwest’s fiercest Black writers & musicians will fire up the stage together in our Central District home. We promise, they gonna make ya wanna HOLLA!

Scroll down to meet the artists, and join us March 22-23 to watch them go up on everything from Black womanhood, to the taxes of being Black in America, to the #MeToo movement, displacement and gentrification, misogyny/patriarchy, and more.

Each performance features a different set of artists — join us for one or both days!

Ticket Info

$20 — Single Admission $35 — Festival Pass (attend both performances, save $5!) $10 — Students $5 — TeenTix (at door, cash only)

Special Tacoma Performance!

HEEEEY, TACOMA –> We’re excited to partner with Tacoma Urban Performing Arts Center (T.U.P.A.C.) for an abbreviated FREE SHOW on Thursday, March 21, 6pm, at Tacoma Art Museum — part of their “Free Third Thursday” program. Join us!

What is SHOWING OUT?

SHOWING OUT is our performance showcase and mentorship program for local Black artists, curated by Dani Tirrell and focused this season on Contemporary Dance, Writers, and Music.

SHOWING OUT supports the creation and development of work (across all artistic disciplines) by several of the Pacific Northwest’s emerging Black artists — perfectly aligned with our mission to support distinctive Black artistic voices.
